Breathing and Cultivating Clearer Awareness

A Workshop for Teachers and Students

Asana practice is awesome. Doing it consistently makes our lives better – clearer, healthier, happier. But there’s far more we can offer or experience in doing yoga.

With yoga asana practice we’re beautifully scratching the surface. In most classes we use basic yogic breathing (ujjayi pranayama), giving us hints of the deeper practices of pranayama can awaken far more subtle sensation and awareness.

Many yoga classes also include wonderful moments of meditation – asana practice itself can be a form of meditation. Yet we can also take it all far farther with dedicated meditation practices, opening to deeper personal insight and awakening to greater clarity in our constant becoming.

This experiential workshop offers background, technique, guidance and practice in exploring ancient to contemporary methods of pranayama and meditation. We will start with pranayama, exploring several ways of cultivating, refining, expanding and balancing our energetic experience. Each method will be briefly introduced before being practiced, with ample time to share through group discussion the experience of each method and how as teachers we can best guide others in practicing them.

We’ll take the same approach to meditation, exploring several approaches to guiding meditation in ways that make it more accessible and joyful to all who are open to it – mantra practices, tantric micro-practice, various visualization techniques, and heart-centered self-transformation, followed by group discussion.

Come explore how to take your yoga practice to the next level, and if you're on the teaching path, explore learning how to bring your classes that much more alive and deeply into the hearts and bodyminds of your students.

Open to All. Ten Hours of Teacher Training Credit or Yoga Alliance CEUs.
